by Sonja Francis | Jan 13, 2019 | Astrology Articles, Lunar Eclipse
Monday very early morning, on Jan. 21st, at 12:16am EST, the Moon opposes the Sun in almost 1 degrees of Leo — this is a very powerful Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse becoming exact. We started to feel this aspect build from the moment the Moon entered Leo Sunday (Jan. 20th), at 10:54pm EST.
Once every six months, the Sun, Moon, and Earth align precisely enough for a Solar or Lunar Eclipse to occur. Eclipses are always powerfully connected to the Moon Nodes and thus to our Soul’s Journey. If you’d like to learn more about this month’s Full Moon, click here to watch my Lunar Eclipse video.
This Full Moon is the second of two Eclipses in January and it’s extra-powerful. There are two main reasons for this: firstly, because it’s a SuperMoon — these occur when the Moon is either Full or New while at its closest distance to the Earth — they are therefore more powerful. This often means an increase in emotional reactivity, plus greater awareness around the issues connected to the particular Full Moon energy in question.
Secondly, as the last Eclipse in the Leo/Aquarius polarity, it completes an Eclipse cycle that started in Feb. 2017 — this put an emphasis on freedom and individuality, while redefining our approach to improving our future — and paradoxically, also on our need to belong. We are also invited to become more aware of our mind’s activities, of group affiliations out there in the world, and of moving towards a courageous, open, and self-expressed heart — one that knows how to joyfully and playfully connect to the “here and now”.
Think back over the last two years, and ask yourself: What has shifted for me, in my attitudes towards the collective (or “humanity”)? How about like-minded people or political/group affiliations? Was there likewise a shift in my desire for more joy? For authentic self-expression? Heartfelt actions? If I think back to the last Solar Eclipse in Leo (August 11th, 2018), what brought the possibility for more joy into my life since then? Have I been able to get more in touch with my inner child?

A final note about Eclipses: they’re consciousness upgrades. For 7 – 10 days before and after one, we are usually in uncharted territory — anything is possible and it’s wise to expect the unexpected. Anything brand-new started during this time will likely not pan out the way we thought it would, often because important information comes to light only after Eclipse season is over.
For that reason, try to defer any major brand-new projects until after Jan. 30th, when this particular Eclipse season ends. That said, if something is beginning or ending in a way that seems organic, allow it to “be”… Just be wary of the urge to push something forward merely to relieve anxiety or impatience.
Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 0-6 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio, or 26-29 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries or Libra? If so, you may feel the effects of this powerful Full Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer). We Feel Alive — Forecast for Dec. 17th – 23rd
This week’s headline items: Venus comes out of her shadow phase on Monday, the Chiron Station finally ends on Tuesday, the Sun changes signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn on Friday (marking the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere), and the Full Moon in Cancer becomes exact on Saturday.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday very early morning (for a little over 2 hours), Wednesday evening (for almost 14 hours), and Saturday late morning (for a little over 2 hours).
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have two quick announcement:
1) If you haven’t had a chance yet to listen to my recent Radio Interview, from earlier this month, click here. Questions centered around how the zodiac can influence relationships and compatibility, and particularly sexual compatibility between the signs.
2) Last chance to sign up for this week’s Forecasting Forum! This will be the last FORECASTING FORUM of the year! Live on Thursday, Dec. 20th at 11am PST/2pm EST/7pm GMT (London-time). Please note that we’ll talk about 2019! We will take a look ahead at the whole year to gain some perspective and get an overview of what’s to come: What can we expect in 2019? What are the energies to watch out for, and which ones are the energies to get excited about?

If you are a Star or SuperStar Member already, please check your email on the day of the webinar!
Now, this week’s Forecast:
Monday (Dec. 17th): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day, where it will journey until Tuesday early morning. Life is an adventure, we’re more open to new ideas, and have great enthusiasm for new projects. Patience is certainly not our strong suit at this time, but we can decide quickly, and act immediately.
Our independence and dynamism are important to us right now, so we may find it hard to be disciplined or accept advice at this time; in general, our responses to others tend to be more assertive or even aggressive. If you find your foot tapping, try hitting the gym, or finding other ways to burn off the body’s excess energy.
Monday very early morning, an opportune Mars/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 1:57am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last week, Friday evening (Dec. 14th) on; it will be strong until this Thursday evening (Dec. 20th). This brings an opportunity to connect our personal passions to our Soul’s passions.
We can dream up creative solutions to problems, and imaginative, unusual approaches to getting the job done. We favor subtle or peaceful solutions over conflict and confrontation. We feel more confident about our own talents
It’s especially satisfying to do work that helps others — perhaps in support of a cause that transcends our own narrow, personal interests.
Strategic thinking and execution is favored right now, as is eliminating waste around time and energy. Remember though: An “opportunity” is just an opening, it’s not automatically granted — we have to “step up” to the opening, then through it…
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-22 degrees of Pisces, Capricorn, Scorpio or Taurus? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Scorpio (Mars is the ruler of Aries; Pluto is the ruler of Scorpio)
Monday late morning, we are invited to make adjustments and find creative solutions around personal desires and needs, versus our deep passion and focus on long-term goals. As best as you can, allow yourself to make space for both; flexibility and adaptability are key if we mean to move forward with our plans and projects…
Also on Monday, around 10pm EST, Venus’s Shadow phase ends in 10 degrees and 50 min. of Scorpio. During Venus’s shadow phases, it’s best to hold off on anything new in connection with relationships, things we hold dear, or place value on (including finances) — this is especially true when it comes to engaging in new relationships or partnerships. The good news is that with the Venus shadow phase ending today, we can finally go ahead and start up new enterprises, and make new financial investments.
Tuesday (Dec. 18th): the Moon remains in…

Greater Realities — Forecast for Nov. 19th – 25th, 2018
This week’s headline items: Mercury’s station phase ends on Tuesday, the Sun changes signs from Scorpio to Sagittarius on Thursday early morning, the Full Moon in Gemini becomes exact on Thursday night/Friday very early morning, Neptune comes to a halt on Saturday evening (ending its 5-month retrograde phase), and Venus’s station phase ends on Sunday.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday early evening (for an hour), Thursday early morning (for a little over 18 hours), and Saturday night/Sunday very early morning (for a little over an hour).
Now, this week’s Forecast:
Monday (Nov. 19th): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day. it will journey there until Tuesday evening.
Monday late morning/early afternoon: we feel energized and feel great enthusiasm for personal achievements and explorations. We are able to connect with others through optimism and humor.
Monday late evening, a challenging Mars/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 8:30pm EST. We started to feel this aspect build from Nov. 10th on, it will remain strong until next week, Monday Nov. 26th.
This aspect is an opportunity to grow by stretching between two poles: On the one hand, an emotional impulse draws us to go within and tap into our intuitive, creative processes; on the other hand, we also feel drawn to adventures and want to expand our horizons — but want to identify some higher learning or meaning before we make a move.
Here’s the question: Might tapping into our intuition help us expand our horizons?
We seek excitement and growth; we may not be satisfied with how things are — we feel an inner restlessness which demands freedom and “space” but doesn’t necessarily return the favor. We may have a tendency to overdo or over-exert — and our expectations of ourselves and others might be too high.
Ask yourself: What might open up if I expected 5% less of myself, just for today? What if I applied that to others too? Might my physical energy levels help me be realistic about how much I can expect of myself right now?
With this position, we never feel that we have enough experiences, knowledge, connections, etc. — it’s difficult knowing when to stop. If you can, pause and reflect: this will help with that feeling that you can’t get enough, no matter what you do. If we’re going to get tripped up here, it would be because we don’t know when to stop (or say no).
That said: we needn’t expect to feel tormented — in fact, this is usually a playful and humorous time — lots of joking around (including practical jokes) smiles, laughter. The key to this aspect is connecting our desire for a more ideal or divine connection to self and others to our quest for expansive yet truthful mental and spiritual explorations.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in…

Taking it One Step at a Time — Forecast for Aug. 20th – 26th
This week’s headline items: the Mars station phase begins to intensify on Monday; Uranus ends it’s station phase late Monday night/Tuesday very early morning; the Sun changes signs from Leo to Virgo late Wednesday night/Thursday very early morning; Mercury ends it’s station phase on Friday, a Grand Earth Trine will be at its strongest on Saturday; on Sunday morning, the Full Moon in Pisces becomes exact — bringing Eclipse Season to a close.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday evening (for a little over 4 hours), Thursday late morning (a little over 2.5 hours), and Friday night/Saturday very early morning (almost 25 hours).
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have one quick announcement:
Join us for next week’s Forecasting Forum! We will cover the Mars and Saturn station phases, as well as what happens when both of these planets in Capricorn start going direct again.
For this month only you can get a FREE copy of the Eclipse webinar (from early August) by signing up for either the next two Forecasting Forums in advance — click here to take advantage of that deal; by joining as a Star or SuperStar Member by the end of the month: click here to join, or upgrade your Universal Membership via your “My Subscriptions” tab inside your Members account by August 28th 😉
Now, this week’s Forecast:
Monday (Aug. 20th): the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day. We’re strongly motivated to explore and learn. We’re not likely to be big fans of routine — diversity and new adventures work best at this time — we’re also physically restless and need to burn that off with activity and physical exercise.
We tend to feel more open, optimistic and inspired — but we also have a high degree of independence — and taking these two influences together, this means we’d rather inspire others to do things our way, as opposed to issuing or obeying orders. Inspiring others could come easier than normal, as we can see the bigger picture, leaving us confident that others will agree with us, once they see what we see.
As best as you can, speak your truth without assuming that everyone is on the same page as you. Improvisation works well for us at this time, as we are spontaneous and love living on the edge — just watch out you aren’t overdoing or overstating things.
Monday at 7:47pm EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC), that last a little over 4 hours, until 12:00am EDT (Monday night/Tuesday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to enjoy your day as much as you can — you have plenty of energy, so use it to explore something new about life or yourself — have some fun!
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Monday evening until the very early morning ahead of time.
Also on Monday, the Mars Station intensifies. Mars started to slow down already on Aug. 8th. It will come to a halt on Aug. 27th in 28.5 degrees of Capricorn — ending its 2-month retrograde phase — and will move more slowly for a couple of weeks. Between now and Sept. 3rd, anything connected to Mars’s energy will come into our awareness even more strongly: We are being invited to pay attention to what this planet is trying to communicate to us.
Mars represents our assertiveness, independence and “masculine” energy. It is also associated with new initiatives, going after one’s goals, and with physical actions. With Mars’ energy even more exalted, we are more aware of these things — but are not necessarily able to do anything about any of it yet.
This may bring up impatience, frustration or even outright anger. What’s more, since Mars is in Capricorn right now, we may express this anger towards authority figures, or towards ourselves in regards to our accomplishments or lack thereof… In that case, try taking it one step at a time and bring a mature attitude to the table; this could prove an inspired way to deal with it all. Physical exercise could also be a great way to tap into these energies.
Do your best to slow down, get present, and allow for it all to unfold — because one thing is for sure: you will make progress very soon — it’s just a matter of time, and timing is everything. Ask yourself: What do I become most aware of when I consider my accomplishments? What single action step would take me one step closer towards my goals? What might be possible if I took it one moment at a time, staying very present with “what is”? What would impatience do? What has it done so far?
Is your Sun-sign or Ascendant in Aries? Or perhaps you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following:…

Forecast for April 23rd – 29th 2018
The moment Chiron moved into Aries last week, I could feel my focus shift towards the physical body; I also observed my anger in a different way. Since I have Mars (the ruler of Aries) natally in Pisces in my 4th House, I could also feel a desire to slow down…
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have one quick announcement:
Last chance to sign up for my upcoming MONTHLY FORECASTING FORUM, next week Monday, April 30th, 2018 at 12pm PDT/ 3pm EDT/8pm BST (London-time).
Please note that there are major shifts ahead! Chiron, the Wounded Healer, already started to make its first pass into Aries; and Uranus, the awakener, makes its first pass into Taurus in May.
If you want to know how to align yourself with these planetary shifts, join me live or sign up for the mp4-video presentation. To join for FREE, become a Star or SuperStar Member on my site
Already a Member? You will receive an invitation to join us live automatically via email and a recording within 24-hours of the live event (also via email).
This week’s headline items: On Tuesday, Venus moves from Taurus into Gemini and Saturn ends its station. The Full Moon in Scorpio becomes exact on Sunday evening.
There will be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday afternoon (for 2 hours), Thursday early morning (for almost 15.5 hours) and Saturday night/Sunday very early morning (for almost 2 hours).
Monday (April 23rd): the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day. It will journey there until Tuesday late afternoon. We may lack objectivity and struggle with backing down or compromising. We all love to be admired — or at the very least acknowledged — for our greatness 🙂
So hand out some compliments — let people know how proud you are of them, tell them how much you love them. Come from the heart in this and all other things… be honest and authentic, as best you can. Fun, games, and romance are a big part of this energy as well. You might also enjoy…

Forecast for Feb. 26th – March 4th
Last week was super intense for me…. wow… haven’t felt like that since I was a teenager… looks like some really “old” stuff is coming up to be released… all that Pisces energy that we’re currently experiencing really requires the release of anything that is not serving higher consciousness. So much water, so many feelings coming up, floods everywhere, both literal or metaphorical, flushing out systems. All I wanted to do was go within and baby myself… and then the first Quarter Moon in Gemini happened on Friday… so it was more about continuously emailing and communicating with everybody instead 🙂
Before we get to this week’s forecast, I have two quick announcements:
Last chance to join my next Forecasting Forum, live this Friday at 3pm EST (more details at the very bottom of the blog)… and only one more week before my Weekly Forecasts and my Full Moon videos are only available via my new online community. For a limited time only, you can continue receiving all of the wonderful forecasts uninterrupted, for the price of a Cappuccino! So, join now!
Some of you may have read that last paragraph and asked “WHY???” For more info, click here

This week’s headline items: the Full Moon in Virgo becomes exact on Thursday evening; Jupiter is stationing all week (and this station intensifies on Saturday night).
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday late afternoon (for almost 7 hours), Wednesday evening (for a little over 6.5 hours), and Friday evening (for 8.5 hours).
Monday (February 26th): the Moon remains in protective, nurturing Cancer until 11:42pm EST. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is key 😉
