On Jan. 21st at 3:53pm EST, a powerful New Moon in 1.5 degrees of Aquarius becomes exact; this is the beginning of a new Moon cycle. I also recommend you watch my video on the subject.
This New Moon is another SuperMoon (the second of four Super New Moons in a row). These occur when the Moon becomes either Full or New at its closest distance to the Earth and are more powerful. They generate greater gravitational and electromagnetic forces and therefore increased effects on our physical, mental, and emotional bodies, leading to significant shifts in consciousness.
Since this one occurs in Aquarius, this Super New Moon invites us to go out there and connect with “our people”– with a tribe that resonates, a cause that feels aligned with our values and our need for stability and comfort, a connection that serves a larger vision for our financial future and the future of our planet etc.
We have three exalted planets in this Super New Moon chart:
- Mercury (the planet of communication & how we process information)
- Mars (the planet of passion & going after our goals)
- Uranus (the planet of breakthroughs and innovation)
Mars in Gemini & Mercury in Capricorn are no longer in their Retrograde phases at the time of the New Moon, but they are still moving slower than usual, trying to catch up to their regular speed after coming to a halt on Jan. 12th and 18th. More about that in a little bit…
Uranus is at its most exalted, as it is coming to a halt only 26 hours after the New Moon becomes exact, ending its 5-months Retrograde phase in 15º of Taurus. More about this below as well…
With all this, we are being asked to be extra-mindful about connecting to our body, our finances, and the planet in an innovative and unique way; we are also being asked to be extra mindful about how we share and communicate, and what our inner dialog reveals about ourselves and where we are at.
The good news: from January 23rd to April 21st, all planets will be in forward motion. This indicates an accelerated time of manifestation for most of us — especially connected to new projects or ideas.
Ask yourself: What in my life is asking for accelerated progress? What could I do if I had the support of the Universe?
Let’s first talk a little bit about Aquarius and what this energy represents before jumping into the aspects of this Super New Moon chart:
The highest vibration of Aquarius represents…

The highest vibration of Aquarius represents the threshold of individuation and the attainment of group consciousness, where we transcend differences of gender, race, religion, and nationality and realize that we are all members of the human race. It is the energy of equality and diversity, freedom and reform, collaboration, and community.
With the synergistic power of Aquarius —where combined efforts achieve far more than individual actions and where everyone matters — we could make tremendous progress in a short amount of time.
The Super New Moon in Aquarius trines an exalted Mars in Gemini and sextiles Jupiter on Aries.
The Trine to Mars invites us to socialize and connect with others. Great ideas and concepts can be shared over the next four weeks. The connections we make are more likely to be based on an exchange of information. This can be a very productive time.
Ask yourself: What might I share with my tribe if I wanted to passionately express something that might make other people’s lives better? What actions would bring me closer to my desired personal and global future? What could I teach or learn that could proactively support my healing process?
The Sextile to Jupiter invites us to connect and collaborate with like-minded people and start something that gets us excited about the future.
Ask yourself: What adventure would help expand perspectives for myself and other people? How could I be an example for the like-minded? What kind of perspectives about myself would support a beneficial outcome in my larger communities or networks? What attitudes towards life might do the same?
Again, Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, comes to a halt (stations direct) at 15 degrees of Taurus on Jan. 22nd and ends its 5-month Retrograde phase only 26 hours after the Super New Moon becomes exact.
The planet’s energy has been “louder” since January 8th moving slower than usual; it will be exalted until Feb. 7th and aligns closely to the North Node in Taurus. So it’s time to make a real – in other words, not merely cosmetic — change in at least one area of our life.
Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, increasing our access to innovative thinking and alternative solutions; its Station phase could also coincide with revelations, reversals, or other unexpected events, such as earthquakes or severe weather.
We are being asked to elevate our thinking if we want our bodies and the planet to vibrate at a higher frequency.
Uranus in Taurus emphasizes the urgency of changing our relationship with the Earth — from domination and exploitation to stewardship and co-creation.
Ask yourself: Looking back over the past five months, what have I learned about honoring my body? What about my material and financial resources? Or my talents? In what ways have I started to elevate my thinking? Am I ready to honor my own unique approach? Where am I prepared to take a giant leap forward?
Mercury comes to a halt — ending its 3-week Retrograde phase — only 3.5 days before the New Moon becomes exact (on Jan. 18th in the morning), while Mars ended its 2.5 months Retrograde phase already on Jan. 12th in the late afternoon.
When a planet changes directions, its energy will be “louder” for some days before and after that shift. Mars has been “louder” since Jan. 1st and will continue to ask for our attention until Jan. 24th. Mercury will still be exalted until Jan. 23rd.
When planets end Retrograde phases, they are ready to move forward and bring to the world whatever material they have learned and integrated during the Retrograde.
Ask yourself: What did I learn about my long-term goals, my aspirations, and how I want to show up out there in the world (within current social structures)? Where are my limitations? Where does my expertise lie?
What have I learned about my masculine energies (assertion, anger, pro-activity, independence, passion, sex drive, etc.) and the actions I took or couldn’t take?
When am I doing too much? Not enough? Am I rushing things? Do I get impatient with myself? With others? Am I expecting too much of myself or others? What is my nervous system telling me about my current state?
What am I ready to bring to the world from all those realizations? What felt most in alignment with my inner core?
The exalted Uranus in Taurus aligns with the North Node and trines an exalted Mercury in Capricorn (Mercury consequently sextiles the South Node in Scorpio). So, let’s unpack that…
The alignment between Uranus and the North Node invites us collectively and individually to make an effort to form a unique relationship with the physical world — with our bodies, resources, and the Earth.
This alignment could bring a lot of nervous energy with it, along with a lot of unknowns. Still, for those of us who have the willingness to innovate, do something different, something unusual — break the routine — we will get rewarded and feel fulfilled down the line.
Ask yourself: What might be a new way of seeing, using, and approaching my possessions, valuables, money, and talents?
Is there anything that I could point to that might be keeping me in a rut? What if I consciously broke away from situations that limit how I honor myself and my talents?
We may experience sudden insights about our finances, physical reality, the planet, and what’s most important to us right now and for our future.
Ask yourself: Where do I need to question prevailing norms connected to my physical reality? Where could I explore unconventional alternatives? Could I be willing to operate with little-to-no social approval regarding my values, preferences, or body?
Mercury’s Trine to the Uranus/North Node alignment (and Sextile to the South Node) indicates that realistic thought processes — including our sobering inner dialog — are a big part of our ability to balance the traumatic, emotional, and interruptive physical reality of our current Soul’s Journey.
Ask yourself: If my body was wired for survival, what would its natural response be to any perceived threat? How could I settle and soothe myself and my body when these natural survival reactions show up? What if I chose to tune in and trust my authority rather than tune outwards and trust everyone else?
If we are open to it, we can receive inspiration from higher places and use this inspiration to create a better future for ourselves… making it easier to find new solutions to old problems. Consequently, we will more easily connect with integrity and mastery out there in the world when sharing our vision for a more abundant future.
Ask yourself: Am I ready to experiment — and at the same time stay realistic about my current earthly realities? Could I open to inspiration from higher places? My higher Self? Where could I apply new solutions to old problems?
What does an abundant future look like to me? Do I have what it takes to create this abundant future for myself? Do I come from integrity? Self-mastery? Do I trust my own authority? Do I value my unique talents?
I would also like to mention that Uranus in Taurus will be in mutual reception with Venus in Aquarius until January 26th. This means that they are in each other signs and support each other’s agenda. This provides an opportunity to form a shared vision and a more tolerant approach to our interactions.
Ask yourself: How open-minded and flexible could I allow myself to be? What alternative tools might I employ that allow for greater freedom or diversity in my life (financially or otherwise)?
What do I value in my affiliations with like-minded people? What could be more easily addressed regarding any group experiences? Humanitarian causes? Or technology? What do I value about my ability to make a unique difference in my communities or networks?
Saturn, the traditional ruler of Aquarius, aligns with Venus in Aquarius at the time of the Super New Moon. Saturn symbolizes form and structure on all levels, from personal ego constructs, patterns, and beliefs, to governments, corporations, and institutions of all kinds. With Saturn, we are learning about limits, responsibility, and becoming our own authority.
We are asked to take responsibility for our role in the collective, turn a critical eye on everything we envision for our future, and adopt an objective, scientific approach.
We are individually and collectively invited to clarify our thinking and take a closer look at the agreements we have made and are currently making with each other on a collective level.
As best as you can, slow down a little, and focus on what can be done within the limitations that you are currently experiencing. Rushing will backfire right now.
Ask yourself: What works for me? What doesn’t? Does my participation in various groups or networks align with who I am? Or with where I see myself five years from now? What relationships or affiliations do I genuinely want to commit myself to?
Do the communities in my life (whether local or online) genuinely resonate with my vision for the future — as it stands now, rather than what it was 5 or 10 years ago? Which “cooperations” or businesses do I want to support? Which do I want to disconnect or part myself from?
This is not the best time to get involved in brand-new relationships, collaborations, groups, or “good causes”.
Ask yourself: Could I focus on a new sense of responsibility in my existing relationships? Am I ready to face any problems in my relationships that have been swept under the rug?
Where do I choose to recommit? Are there any old friends with whom I want to renew ties? Business collaborators? Group affiliations? Can I show up responsibly and maturely?
Let’s talk about some of the other aspects in this New Moon chart:
The exalted Mercury in Capricorn is the most aspected planet in this Super New Moon chart. It not only connects with Uranus and the Moon Nodes as we have previously discussed, but it also squares Jupiter and Chiron in Aries and makes a quincunx to Mars in Gemini — which is part of a Yod-configuration, with Mars as the Focal Point of that Yod. Now let’s unpack all of that….
Let’s start with the Square between Mercury and the Jupiter/Chiron alignment in Aries. All Squares asks us to evolve and grow beyond where we used to be and shift our perspective, so we can change directions and go further.
With this particular Square, “listening” might not be our strong suit: we want to share our thoughts and feelings about our healing process or our past wounding without limitations and are thus inclined to exaggeration or unrealistic expectations, often unintended.
Impatience and self-righteousness might also show up, but moving faster than our current reality allows us to, will not necessarily get us where we would like to be on our healing journey. Unfortunately, this might also bring up feelings of shame or insecurities.
Ask yourself: What if I slowed down just 5% when limitations or insecurities come up? What if slowing down helped me listen to myself 5% more? What might I hear then?
What might become possible in any of my ventures if I were 5% more aware of the assumptions I am making at any given moment? Or of any emotional triggers from my past wounding? Or of my expectations?
Am I expecting too much of myself in connection to my healing journey? Too little? What if I took the pressure off, just for a moment? What would I be able to contribute to the world if I embraced my humanity just 5% more? If I brought 5% more acceptance to my healing process?
As best as you can, stretch yourself — and be open to bringing love and understanding to yourself and others 🙂
We will also talk about the Jupiter/Chiron alignment in Aries in our next Forecasting Forum on Monday, Feb. 6th at 5pm EST/2pm PST/10pm GMT and that’s on Feb. 7th at 9am Sydney-time (Australia), so feel free to join us for that! Early Bird Special (only $32) is still available until Feb. 4th at midnight EST!
Lastly, let’s talk about the Yod-aspect that involves Mercury & the South Node, with Mars as the Focal Point. A Yod-aspect always consists of two Quincunxes and one Sextile. The planet connected to the two Quincunxes is considered the Focal Point and needs our closest attention and awareness.
Quincunxes focus on the mismatch between two energies that have “very little to nothing”in common. An inner adjustment is thus needed. The best way to deal with a Quincunx is to stop looking for the exact solution but instead to seek ways to feel ok when things are not a perfect match — in other words, when something is uncomfortable and not in precise alignment. “Another perspective” and “flexibility” are helpful companions for quincunxes.
Given that the exalted Mars in Gemini becomes the Focus of this aspect here, pay close attention to your daily interactions & communications and ask: What adjustments are required for the next 28 days regarding my actions or desires? Am I too impulsive? Reactive? Impatient? Moving too fast? Too busy?
What is my body suggesting? Do I have a revved-up nervous system? Hyperactive or easily distracted thoughts? Do I spend too much time on my various communication devices? Is it hard for me to rest? To relax my body and mind?
How might I find a more conscious and healthy relationship with my inner Mars energy? How can I be courageous and passionate in my communications without getting sucked into self-protective or fearful patterns & behaviors from my past?
Could I get curious about any thinking patterns tied to the past? Could I do the same for social expectations or pressure? How might I stay independent and still be an integral part of society?
To sum it up, this Super New Moon reminds us that each of us is on a unique path and is also an integral part of the collective journey. When we do not take responsibility for our role in the collective — when we do not honor our unique contribution to society or our communities — we get stuck in feeling alienated, unable to relate to others who are different and isolate ourselves.
Ask yourself: What if I allowed myself to be both different and connected to others? What stops me from being me when I am with my “tribe”? What makes me unique? How could that spark inside me make a difference in my various networks or communities?
Imagine a world where everyone was a clone of yourself. Same features, personality, preferences, style, ideas, beliefs… same everything! How long could a world like that exist? How long before the human spirit perished?
As best as you can, remember why you are here at this momentous time of change on this planet. “Think Different”, keep your heart open, and come together. Help birth a new world one day at a time.
Ask yourself: What if innovation was the “new normal”? What if thinking out of the box was the grandest gift I could give to myself or others? What if I let go of the box entirely?
What if diversity was the greatest gift we could give each other at this time? What if time truly did “heal all”? If that were so, how much patience would be “just right”?
Again, I also recommend you watch my video on the subject.

Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in 0-4 degrees of Aquarius, Leo, Taurus, Scorpio, or 29 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries, or Libra? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Finally, let’s talk “New Moon Intentions” 🙂 The New Moon is the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month’s Moon cycle; this is best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact, and not during a Moon void of course phase.
That means that this month, the best time to set intentions would be any time between 3:53pm on Jan. 21st and 5:19am on Jan. 23rd, and then again, from 12:36pm until 3:53pm, also on Jan. 23rd -(New York Time/US Eastern Time)
If you live in a timezone other than EST (US East Coast), and converting timezones isn’t your thing, I suggest joining my Facebook Fanpage and following me on Twitter. I will post reminders to let you know when it is time to set your New Moon intentions 😉
