On July 13th, at 2:38pm EDT, the Moon opposes the Sun in almost 21.5 degrees of Capricorn. This Full Moon has heightened effects on us for many reasons: first, it is a “Full SuperMoon” (i.e. the Moon is at its closest distance to the Earth).
Secondly, lots of planets are involved in this Super Full Moon chart — Chiron, Pluto, Neptune, Mercury, Uranus, Saturn, and the Moon Nodes — and all play an important role, so buckle up! We also have a Grand Water Trine and many aspects to the Moon…
Chiron in Aries plays an especially big role in this Super Full Moon chart, firstly because it is stationing and therefore exalted — indicating that something is in our face and demands our awareness — we must pay attention to whatever comes up in connection with Chiron’s energies (the Wounded Healer). And secondly, because it is the Focus Point of a T-Square, involving the Full Moon polarity (Capricorn-Cancer). More details in a moment…
First, let’s take a look at the polarities involved in this Super Full Moon: The Moon in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn opposes the Sun in protective, feeling-oriented Cancer.
We have a heightened sense that something must be brought into balance and reintegrated; the balance in question is between the connection we have to our feelings and emotional needs, plus our ability to feel emotionally connected to others (symbolized by Cancer), versus our outer obligations or material, practical goals out there in the world (Capricorn).
It’s important to realize that our long-term goals need our attention — and that they could be the very thing that might bring the fulfillment and inner stability we seek. A realistic approach will work best here!
Ask yourself: Where might the balance point be between the demands of my inner and outer life? If I listened 5% more closely to my feelings, my body, and my intuition, might I be able to find that balance point more quickly?
Capricorn seeks to develop…

Capricorn seeks to develop an internalized sense of authority and responsibility. This Super Full Moon is therefore asking us to look closely at how we balance taking care of ourselves (Cancer), versus how we want to contribute to the world at large (Capricorn) — in other words, where we have reached our limit, and where we need to set some priorities.
Ask yourself: What foundations do I need in order to feel ready to contribute to the world at large? Do I have plenty of nourishment where I live? Do I feel a sense of belonging? Am I able to give and receive? What does giving to others look like? What does receiving from others look like?
How is my physical reality challenging me at this time? How might perceiving, understanding, and managing my feelings & needs support me with those challenges? What if I practiced exactly that at home every day, just for 10 minutes? Might a daily practice like that make it easier to bring a mature attitude to the world? Might a practice like that result in having the ability to be more sensitive, both to my inner and outer realities?
Any Full Moon also has us look more closely at the denser vibrations or shadow components of the energies involved.
Cancer: This is our ability to receive, and to feel safe from within — but what protected us in the past may no longer serve, as our needs may have changed over time.
Ask yourself: Where am I holding on simply out of familiarity? What do I need to feel safe in the world, in this now moment?
What if self-care led to self-alignment? What if the same were true of nurturing my feeling body? Given those possibilities, might it be worth spending 5% more time and energy on self-care, just as an experiment?
With Capricorn, we need to take a look at those parts of ourselves that are domineering, rigid, unforgiving, self-servingly ambitious, status-seeking, and hierarchical.
As best as you can, be really honest with yourself, and ask: What is my relationship to “control”? Where do I try to control life? Other people? Where do I control myself by suppressing my needs or feelings? Where or when do I allow others to control me?
Is it at least possible that a slower step-by-step approach might improve my ability to be present to what’s needed in the moment? And what’s in alignment with myself?
Too much emphasis on the Cancer archetype — too much subjectivity, unprocessed feelings, and suppressed needs (which leads to being resentful of neglecting our own needs) — and we become reactive, we don’t feel safe in the world or with others — our fight or flight, freeze or flock reptilian brain kicks in.
Too much emphasis on the Capricorn archetype narrows our vision, by having us look outside of ourselves for approval and validation (wanting to be told what to do and who to be), or by becoming rigid about where we stand and what we want to achieve (wanting to control others). Fears of not being valued within our society can kick in or flare up.
With Pluto in Capricorn since 2008, we are becoming more and more aware of Capricorn’s Shadow side, both outside in the world and within.
Let’s take a look at some of the aspects of this Super Full Moon chart, starting with the Moon:
The Moon rules Cancer; and it aligns with Pluto in Capricorn, sextiles Neptune in Pisces, trines the Uranus/North Node alignment in Taurus, opposes the Mercury/Sun alignment in Cancer, and squares Chiron in Aries. Let’s unpack all of that…
The Moon’s alignment with Pluto indicates that we are not merely focused on our long-term goals, we might have gotten a little obsessed, and are also feeling a deep need to be in alignment with our commitments, even be passionate about them — and we also have a need for emotionally authentic and socially-economically empowering long-term goals.
We get the sense that we must dig deep, take responsibility for our Shadow issues, and what motivates us, commit deeply to our long-term goals — and, as always, release anything that is toxic or self-destructive.
Ask yourself: What is my relationship to power? Do I distinguish between the power that comes from within versus power that is connected to external components?
Do I feel empowered in my choices of how I contribute to society and the world? Do I have any fears or concerns about my social-economic long-term goals? How might an emotionally authentic, truthful approach support my path towards an empowered stand in society?
The Moon’s Trine to the Uranus/North Node alignment gives us a chance to embrace all that is new and unusual, especially in connection with our body, our resources (talents & finances), and the planet we live on. We are ready to experiment — but we are also invited to be realistic about our current earthly realities.
Ask yourself: What do I picture when I imagine revolutionary business or social practices that support my values and resources? What if those practices also made life tangibly more enjoyable for everyone who interacts with me? What might that teach me about my unique talents or value to the world? In what ways am I currently growing? Maturing? Achieving Self-mastery?
If I experienced a financial breakthrough with my career or long-term goals, what might that look like? What might an unconventional approach make possible for me and others? What am I ready to innovate or change about my body, values, and self-value? Could I let myself be surprised? Could I allow myself to be different? What if I thought of all “change” as progress?
For a more detailed description of the Uranus/North Node alignment in Taurus, watch out for the Daily Forecast-entry for Sunday, July 31st. If you have opted out of receiving your Daily Forecast emails, check the Weekly Forecast post (July 25th – 31st) via your Member’s Account on my website.

Back to the Moon aspects of this Super Full Moon chart: The Moon’s Trine the North Node in Taurus and its Sextile to the South Node in Scorpio, giving us an opportunity to deal with the Taurus/Scorpio polarity by understanding our boundaries and taking responsibility for our part in the collective story and journey.
The Moon/Pluto alignment in Sextile to Neptune invites us to soften our need for accomplishment with a gentler, more intuitive approach. It supports our moving from survival mode to a passionate, more heart-centered engagement with life and the society we belong to — a passionate approach is key here, but surprisingly perhaps, so is empowering others.
This also presents an opportunity to release/let go of fears connected to our long-term goals.
Ask yourself: How might meditation or mindfulness — simply being present in the now-moment to all the energies inside and around me — support my manifesting fulfilling long-term goals? What might a good dose of trust do for my achievements? How do I do with trusting myself? My intuitive knowing? How about trusting life?
Is it at least possible that a trusting emotional connection with others might create a more authentic and passionate engagement out there in the world?
The Moon/Pluto alignment in opposition to the Mercury/Sun alignment in Cancer asks us to balance loving, caring connection and sharing, against our need to achieve our long-term goals. As best as you can, steer by your own inner compass and bring your authentic self to the world in a spirit of integrity and responsibility — and keep in mind that as we heal our personal history, we become a source of light and support for others.
Ask yourself: What would self-responsible self-care look like? How does my inner life inform my outer? What am I ready to talk about or share from my past — in a vulnerable way? If people hung on my every word, what would I share then? What would I hold back from sharing?
How might nurturing myself support true empowerment and self-alignment in the outside world? Might it also help grant empowered and authentic connections toward others? And even the world at large?
What do I need to change to be better aligned with my needs? Do I need to move? Pursue another vocation? Heal something from the past?
Let’s talk about Chiron in Aries!
Chiron in Aries is moving slower, so its energy is very strong until July 30th — with both, its higher and lower vibrations becoming clearer. This helps us connect more fully to those energies as they exist within us, and shows us where we need to either embrace them more fully, or connect to them in a healthy way — ways that don’t involve getting lost in the murky lower vibrations of their expression (like insecurities, disconnect, resentments, trigger-behaviors, reactive anger, feeling limited, ashamed, not enough or too much of something, etc.)
After all, Chiron is preparing to come to a halt and start its 5-month Retrograde phase on July 19th (six days after the Full Moon becomes exact). Its preparation for the Retrograde phase amplifies the call to heal whatever we feel is too masculine or too aggressive inside of us, or out there in the world.
Ask yourself: If healing was achieved simply by creating spaciousness and love for any particular wounding from the past or our history as people, what would that require of me?
As best as you can, simply observe — this is not about doing the right or wrong thing, but about becoming more aware of how we are connected to this energy. During Chiron’s Retrograde, we’ll get a chance to connect to it from within, such that we’ll feel its vibration inside of us.
Chiron is also the Focus point of a T-Square, squaring the Moon/Pluto conjunction in Capricorn (on one side) and the Sun/Mercury conjunction in Cancer (on the other side). So let’s unpack all of that:
All of this creates some tension, but also an invitation to heal and get in touch with our own humanity. We may feel stretched or stressed by a situation or interaction involving a career goal or a family issue. It’s a time when it’s especially good to be aware of our human limitations and insecurities.
Chiron experiences a tremendous amount of stress over the next two weeks, especially around anything connected to our insecurities concerning the masculine energies or our passions, so ask yourself:
What if I became 5% more conscious of anything connected to a childhood wound that feels triggering to me? What might be possible if I practiced being kind with myself around those triggers? What role does my thinking play in all of this?
Chiron represents the bridge between human limitations and spiritual uniqueness & wholeness; as such, we are also asked to stretch and grow by taking a humble approach to life. We are thus invited to acknowledge any need for healing that we are experiencing with our own identity, personal goals, or passions.
Ask yourself: What do I identify with or as, that needs my understanding and compassion? Again, if healing was achieved simply by creating spaciousness and love for any particular wounding from the past, what would that require of me?
How might I want to approach a younger version of me, when it shows up? Could I be 5% less hard on myself when I regress into a younger me? What might happen if I simply embraced any shame or embarrassment that comes flooding through my body?
The solution with all T-squares is to focus on the empty leg — in this case Libra — here we are invited to bring our humanity to our one-on-one relationships and collaborations. We are encouraged to create win-win situations and a healthy balance within ourselves and our environment.
Ask yourself: Where is the balancing point? What if I channeled my wounded energies into projects that benefit me and others? How might others contribute to my healing process around the “masculine” energies? What if I didn’t have to do it all by myself?
Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is currently in Aquarius and makes a trine to Venus in Gemini. With this combo, we bring more maturity, respect, and integrity to our interactions — and this is a good time to approach like-minded people or those in our communities (locally and online) for their input.
Ask yourself: What long-term connections are possible at this time? Are there any old friendships that need strengthening or refreshing? How might mutual respect and loyalty be of support?
Last but not least, we also have a Grand Water Trine in this Super Full Moon chart. It involves the Sun/Mercury alignment in Cancer, Neptune in Pisces, and the South Node in Scorpio.
This shows us our ability to allow for feelings to move through and supports us further in bringing love and acceptance to our feeling body. Our ability to rest, let go, and nurture ourselves is enhanced.
It also helps us to release any unhealthy attachments to the past, making it easier to trust, and therefore to allow ourselves to stretch outside of our comfort zone and invite in “the new”.
Ask yourself: If I got really quiet, might I get a glimpse of the love that is always present within and outside of me? How can I be 5% more gentle with myself, especially in connection with any past traumas or fears?
We also might be able to receive new support from others, so ask yourself: What if I let myself receive 5% more kindness from others?
What’s my relationship to my intuition? If I get quiet enough, can I catch its subtle voice? When I hear it, can I take that moment to really catch what it says… and then trust it? Who has the last word — my mind, or my heart?
To sum it all up for this Super Full Moon: Cancer and Capricorn are both receptive “yin” energies, and so are Pisces, Scorpio, and Taurus. As we have 7 planets, plus the Moon Nodes in Yin-signs in this Super Full Moon chart, we are clearly asked to go within first, before making a move forward externally.
Cancer is inviting us to develop healthy emotional roots, Capricorn to reach self-mastery and share the fruits of its labor; the more we disregard our own feelings and needs, the greater the likelihood of violating the rights and concerns of others.
When we are able to experience a balance between inner and outer, and thereby come to feel safe and a valuable part of society, we can be both responsible and kind.
Ask yourself: What importance does nourishment have in my life? Do I know when I feel nourished? Physically? Emotionally? Spiritually? Mentally? Do I feel a connection with all of life?
What’s keeping me separate, limited, or in fear? Could I be honest about that? And once I have acknowledged what that might be, could I decide to let it go, just for right now?
Finding win-win situations and a healthy balance in our lives will support our individual healing journey in the next two weeks.
Ask yourself: What if it were possible for me to take 5% more responsibility for the triggers that stem from my insecurities or past wounding? Could I acknowledge my humanity when triggers appear? Could I allow others to be human?
The next two weeks might flush up some shadow material, revealing where we are replaying unconscious patterns, and inviting us to be fully honest with ourselves and others.
Ask yourself: How disconnected am I from my feelings? Where or with whom do I need to learn to be more honest about what I feel and need? How about my communications skills in that regard? What if I allowed myself to take baby steps over the next two weeks when sharing my feelings & needs authentically and lovingly with others?
