Learn, Connect & Interact

This week’s headline items: Mercury’s Station phase ends on Wednesday evening — the planet will return to its normal pace through the sky, though now moving retrograde. The last Quarter Moon in Gemini becomes exact on Saturday evening; and a second Mercury/Jupiter opposition becomes exact on Sunday evening.

There will be three Moon Void of Course (VoC) phases this week: Monday night/Tuesday very early morning (for a little over 6.5 hours), Thursday morning (for a little over 7 hours), and Saturday early evening (for a little over 10 hours).

Before we get to this week’s forecast, please know…

If you missed my Forecasting Forum last week and still want to learn how to align yourself with the current energies, feel free to get the mp4-video presentation “Mercury Retrograde in Libra-Virgo & Mars’ pre-Shadow phase in Gemini” — and see how this relates to your personal Birth Chart. Here is what we covered in this webinar:

    • Mercury still stations in 7-9º of Libra until Sept. 14th
    • Mercury started its 3-week Retrograde phase on September 9th
    • Where do you need to re-organize something in your life to achieve better balance? What relationships need your attention?
    • Do you have a Sun-sign or Rising sign in Gemini or Virgo?
    • How will Mercury’s Retrograde phase impact people with planets or points/angles in 0-10º of Libra, Aries, Cancer, Capricorn, or 22-29º of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius?
    • Mars’ pre-Shadow phase in Gemini (which began Sept. 3rd and lasts until Oct. 30th)
    • What can you do during a Shadow phase that will help you during Mars’ Retrograde?

Sonja, thanks for a wonderful Forecasting Forum yesterday. Full of great and useful info and easy tools to help us prepare. I had never heard about how to use the complete Mercury Retrograde cycle, from shadow to retro and back again so powerfully. I’m definitely looking at this retrograde and future ones differently. Thanks!” — Jaz M.

Now, this week’s Forecast…

Monday, September 12th:

Monday, the Moon remains pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day. It will journey there until Tuesday very early morning. Life is an adventure; we’re more open to new ideas and enthusiastic about new projects. Patience is certainly not our strong suit at this time, but we can decide quickly and act immediately.

Our independence and dynamism are important to us right now, so we may find it hard to be disciplined or accept advice at this time; in general, our responses to others tend to be more assertive or even aggressive. If you find your foot tapping, try hitting the gym or finding other ways to burn off the body’s excess energy.

Monday early morning has lots of potential for healing around family, the “mother archetype”, home, and our past. We may feel more sensitive and insecure about what we identify with, and around our ability to be assertive; this allows us to give ourselves some compassion, acceptance, and nurturing in the face of our sensitivities and limitations (Moon in Aries conjuncts Chiron in Aries, exact at 5:13am EDT)

Monday early afternoon, a somewhat challenging Sun/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 12:09pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build last Sunday afternoon; it will remain strong until Tuesday afternoon. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward, and must make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed to see what needs adjusting.

Our focus is drawn to the truth of the matter, but we could be pulled away by doubts, impatience, or by “accepting” responsibilities that aren’t ours (while ignoring the ones that are). We work hard but aren’t always recognized or compensated as we’d like and therefore sometimes run out of steam before our work is complete. Our life works best when we learn to take care of our most important responsibilities first.

Being of service and improving systems are important for Virgo, but Saturn in Aquarius reminds us that perfectionism or being overly humble will not bring forth new visions for the future.

Ask yourself: What future visions do I have for my local or online communities? Could I stay open to bringing in some new structures to fulfill my vision and create something sustainable? What is the worst that could happen if I chose “perfectionism” over “building a better future”? What role might self-responsibility or discernment play in all of this? What if I simply decided to stay adaptable?

As best you can, slow down, but don’t come to a halt — just because you’re not sure about something doesn’t mean it’s not worth taking a longer look — in other words, don’t discard things because they are different or new when you’re unsure what to do about them.

Ask yourself: What does taking care of my health in a self-responsible way look like to me? What future might I see if I slowed down? What might I notice if I took a longer-term view? How might clear discernment support my communities’ long-term goals?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 19-21 degrees of Virgo or Aquarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Capricorn (the Sun rules Leo; Saturn rules Capricorn).

Monday night/Tuesday very early morning, at 12:53am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC) that lasts for a little over 6.5 hours until 7:39am EDT (Tuesday morning). Use this intuitive time to make some adjustments and find creative ways to work with the energies at play: On the one hand, as best as you can, follow your inner compass and take care of your own needs; on the other hand, deepen your authentic connection to whatever you are building long-term.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Monday night until Tuesday morning ahead of time.

Tuesday, Sept. 13th:

Tuesday, the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries and VoC until 7:39am EDT (see Monday for details).

Tuesday morning, at 7:39am EDT, the Moon moves into steady, peaceful Taurus, where it will journey until Thursday late afternoon. We love all physical comforts, prefer consistency, and would rather stick with what we know works well. In other words: change is not our favorite thing, and “rushing things” goes against our grain.

What is our favorite thing for the next two days? It’s probably slowing down and getting in touch with whatever delights our senses…

Venus (the ruler of Taurus) is currently in Virgo and is approaching a Square with Mars in Gemini that will be exact on Friday. This aspect asks that we stretch ourselves with regard to the feminine/masculine dynamic as it manifests both “inside” and “outside”: a shift needs to occur.

Ask yourself: When is it essential to move on something fast, and when is it better to pause and discern what’s best for my well-being? (For more about this aspect, please read Friday’s entry.)

Tuesday late evening calls for some inner adjustments, as we feel uneasy or awkward and need to make a choice. Making this choice demands we develop inner awareness around two very different urges. We are invited to make some internal adjustments: We may want to have some peace and quiet, while at the same time feeling the need to connect with others one-on-one, and collaborate with them. (Moon in Taurus quincunxes Mercury in Libra, exact at 10:32pm EDT)

Wednesday, Sept. 14th:

Wednesday: the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all day (see Tuesday morning for details).

Wednesday early morning, we can comfortably accomplish things aligned with our values, with a nice feeling of ease — rushing is not required or expected of us right now. We also feel quite grounded in our connections with others and can be quite “real” with them without causing offense. (Moon in Taurus trines Venus in Virgo, exact at 4:41am EDT)

Wednesday early evening, if possible, connect with people that can support your projects on a practical level and share with them what you have going on. (Moon conjuncts Uranus in Taurus, exact at 6:34pm EDT)

Wednesday evening, we are being asked to make some creative choices — on the one hand, we need to make room for peace and physical pleasure; on the other, we need to focus on our visions for the future and see what’s realistic for us and humanity. We may need to make some adjustments between these two seemingly irreconcilable needs. (Moon in Taurus squares Saturn in Aquarius, exact at 8:30pm EDT)

Also, on Wednesday evening, Mercury resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its Station — but moving backward through the sky, as seen from Earth (that’s what “retrograde” refers to).

We have a chance to do some internal work on any thinking and communication issues that came up over the last couple of weeks — especially those connected to our one-on-one relationships, partnerships, collaborations, our inner dialog, and issues connected to justice or balance. How can you stay curious and open-minded about those thought processes?

Thursday, Sept. 15th:

Thursday, the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus until 4:16pm EDT (See Tuesday morning for details).

Thursday morning, at 8:59am EDT, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC) that will last for a little over 7 hours, until 4:16pm EDT. Use this intuitive time to empower each other regarding earthly issues and mutually support each other in practical ways.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Thursday morning to late afternoon in advance.

Thursday late afternoon, at 4:16pm EDT, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will journey until Sunday early morning. For the next 2.5 days, we like to learn, connect, and interact as much as possible.

“Busy” feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way… The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead 🙂

Mercury is retrograde at this time, so we are invited to bring more emphasis to our inner mental processes — the mind might be extra loud or racing around aimlessly — so as best as you can, observe your mind and its chatter, rather than acting on it immediately.

This Moon placement also starts the build-up towards the last Quarter Moon (exact on Saturday early evening).

Friday, Sept. 16th:

Friday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Thursday late afternoon for details).

Friday afternoon, a challenging Venus/Mars aspect becomes exact at 2:49pm EDT. We have felt this aspect build since Tuesday evening; it will remain strong until next Monday evening (Sept.19th). This aspect asks that we stretch ourselves with regard to the feminine/masculine dynamic as it manifests both “inside” and “outside”: a shift needs to occur.

This can show up in several ways, perhaps through romantic and sexual tensions that we might experience with others — we may tease each other, flirt, play hard to get — we might also find ourselves passionately arguing with the opposite sex.

Competitiveness, anger, frustration, or angst might be present. Either way, this can be a very passionate time. Balancing and integrating masculine and feminine energies within ourselves would be very useful now.

The challenge might be that we feel pulled in two directions — on the one hand, we want to be of service, improve our relationships and finances, and discern what’s best for our well-being — and on the other hand, we want to keep going, start new connections, and stay busy and in motion.

What might it look like if you made room for both of these energies?

Ask yourself: What might a balance between masculine and feminine energies look like for me? Where might I learn something new about myself and my body that changes my relationship to health and well-being? When is it essential to move on something fast, and when is it better to pause and discern what’s best for my well-being?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC), or personal planets in 11-17 degrees of Virgo, Gemini, Pisces, or Sagittarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra, or Aries (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Mars is the ruler of Aries)

Friday evening, a Sun/Neptune opposition becomes exact at 6:21pm EDT. We have felt this aspect building since Tuesday evening; it will remain strong until next Monday evening (Sept. 19th). Having a balance between logic and intuition — between what we know and what we feel or sense — is essential at this time. We need to gain clarity when it comes to our dreams and understand that only forgiveness and love can improve our situation.

The mind plays an important role during this time. If they make sense to you, choices connecting you to your heart will help you succeed, as will giving up being “right” and thereby allowing a sense of flow. As best as you can, trust your intuition, and practice self-compassion 😉

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-27 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius? If so, you will feel this opposition quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Pisces (the Sun rules Leo; Neptune rules Pisces).

Saturday, Sept. 17th:

Saturday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day. (see Thursday late afternoon for details).

Saturday very early morning, a somewhat challenging Venus/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 3:24am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Friday early morning on and it will remain strong until Sunday early morning. This aspect operates more on an internal level. We may feel uneasy or insecure in our relationships — and be faced with a choice — we must develop an inner awareness if we are to see what needs adjusting.

As you can imagine, this could make social interactions somewhat awkward; as best as you can, connect with kindness towards all (including yourself 🙂

We may also have a hard time making financial decisions that feel satisfactory. As best as you can, bring a good dose of compassion and understanding to yourself, embrace your humanity as much as possible, and remember: like everything else, this is only temporary 😉

Ask yourself: Could I give myself permission to have a human experience? To be compassionate toward myself and others when thoughts come up? To be more discerning on my healing journey towards a wholistic experience?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-16 degrees of Virgo or Aries? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra , or Pisces (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Neptune is the ruler of Pisces).

Saturday early evening, at 5:52pm EDT, the last Quarter Moon in 25º of Gemini becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect build from the moment the Moon entered Gemini on Thursday late afternoon (Sept. 15th). The Moon in curious, chatty Gemini makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in practical, detail- and service-oriented Virgo.

This may bring challenges; however, it also energizes us to face what demands completion or change. We are better served during the last Quarter Moon by reviewing any projects begun around the last New Moon — in this case, that would be Aug. 27th — rather than launching new ones.

As best as you can, find kind and creative solutions for whatever comes up, whether internally or with others.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 23-27 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces? Do you have an Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer? If so, you will strongly feel this month’s last Quarter Moon; the same is true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer, since the Sun rules Leo and the Moon rules Cancer.

At the same time as the last Quarter Moon becomes exact, we enter a Moon Void of Course (VoC) that will last 10 hours until 3:59am EDT (Sunday early morning). Use this intuitive time to resolve a tension between the need to connect, interact, and learn, versus a need for precision combined with a practical approach. Resolving this tension will require creative thinking and stretching yourself.

The key here is to combine being of service, while continuing to be discerning, so we don’t drive ourselves or others crazy. You may feel a little scatterbrained or all over the map. As best as you can, stay flexible — and don’t be too hard on yourself or others.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan ahead of time from Saturday early evening until Sunday early morning.

Saturday late evening, an opportune Mars/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 11:54pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build up on Tuesday evening; it will remain strong until next Thursday evening (Sept. 22nd). This is an opportunity to accept the validity of our anger and desire so that we can learn to express these energies naturally and confidently.

This could also inspire us to make resolutions and take action towards healing our physical, sexual, and spiritual wounds. As best as you can, allow yourself and others to be human while on your path to wholeness and a larger, more purposeful life. Remember: this is an “opportunity” — those aren’t necessarily handed to us; we have to make them happen.

Ask yourself: Could I allow myself and others to be human? What if I took a curious approach toward my flaws, quirks, and insecurities? How might this support my healing process? Someone else’s?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 13-17 degrees of Gemini, Aries, Leo, or Aquarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries (Mars rules Aries).

Sunday, Sept. 18th:

Sunday, the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini and VoC until 3:59am EDT (see Thursday late afternoon for details).

Sunday very early morning, at 3:59am EDTthe Moon enters protective, nurturing Cancer, where it will journey until next week, Tuesday afternoon. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say, and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is vital for the next two days 😉

Emotional safety is also important to us; we like connecting to the familiar and enjoy nurturing ourselves and others — home and family call to us, for instance. That said, make sure your glass is filled before letting others drink from it, or you might start to feel drained and resentful.

Sunday evening, a Mercury/Jupiter opposition becomes exact, at 6:34pm EDT. This is the second time within the last 16 days — first time this opposition became exact was on Sept. 2nd. We have felt this aspect build since Aug. 29th (an unusually long time due to Mercury’s Station/Retrograde phase in Libra); it will remain strong until next week, Wednesday evening (Sept. 21st).

This asks us to balance what we think we need to learn or share against our desire for expansion of our current perspective or life philosophies.

On the one hand, we are looking to seek new perspectives and approaches toward our “persona” and personal goals — and on the other hand, we also want to communicate and collaborate with others. Self-growth and learning about collaborating with others might be a strong preference now.

Ask yourself: How might we be able to support each other on our self-improvement journeys? What if taking a broader perspective toward my personal goals & passions actually made for more harmonious conversations with others?

Could I allow others to share something with me that might contribute to a more extensive exploration of my “human persona”? How about vice versa? Could I share something with others that might contribute to a more comprehensive exploration of someone else’s persona, identity, or personal goals?

We generally feel optimistic at this time, perhaps overly so: The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we can overreach — perhaps by overlooking critical details and thereby miscalculating. We might be inclined to exaggerate, then have difficulty putting our ideas and goals into practice. That said, we can also be hilarious and interesting at this time 🙂

Of course, we could conceivably have it both ways, perhaps by asking ourselves: How might learning something new and exploring something beyond my typical daily interactions impact my thinking? If I stepped way back from “the canvas”, what “bigger picture” would I see?

Impatience could likely be a side-effect of this aspect as well… Take an “observer” position toward your mind as best as you can: listen to your thoughts, catch yourself thinking.

In other words: as best as you can, practice listening, to yourself, others, and your body. Listening is an art form that makes tapping into our inner and body wisdom easier.

Mercury last aligned with Jupiter at the end of March (in Pisces). Think back to that time: what began in late March? What seeds were planted? What new perspectives or approaches did you take in your interactions with others? What has developed since? What life philosophies could support you in moving beyond where you were in late March?

In other words, what has emerged since this Spring regarding your approaches to mental stimulation or exchanges? How about teaching or learning something that supports your own or other people’s self-growth?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 2-8 degrees of Libra, Aries, Capricorn, or Cancer? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo, or Sagittarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Jupiter of Sagittarius).

Sunday late evening, a harmonious Sun/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 11:58pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Thursday evening on; it will remain strong until next week, Wednesday evening (Sept. 21st). This aspect brings a sense of focus and empowerment to our long-term goals. We can look at everything in a very down-to-earth manner right now; through our understanding of “what works and what doesn’t”, we can make more powerful choices.

We can also deepen our understanding of our motivations and look closely at where we are heading. This aspect also brings an intensity and a depth to our conscious awareness; therefore, this is also a great time to transform our lives, stripping away anything — even people — that no longer connect with who we are.

Ask yourself: How can I live more authentically? Is there anything holding me back? What fears and attachments could I release that no longer serve my evolution? Would I be willing to let them go, just for now, and just as best as I can?

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 23-29 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn, or Taurus? If so, you will be even more blessed by this aspect than those who do not; this is also true for those of us with our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Scorpio (the Sun being the ruler of Leo; Pluto rules Scorpio).

And…

A heads up for next Monday (Sept. 19th): The Moon remains protective, nurturing Cancer all day. In the late morning, the Moon squares Chiron in Aries, exact at 10:15am EDT; in the late afternoon, it sextiles Venus in Virgo, exact at 4:53pm EDT, it sextiles Uranus in Taurus, exact at 5:43pm EDT; in the evening, it quincunxes Saturn in Aquarius, exact at 7:25pm EDT. Monday night/Tuesday very early morning, a harmonious Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 12:44am EDT. We started to feel this aspect build from Saturday evening on; it will remain strong until next week, Thursday (Sept. 22nd). More about all the details in next week’s forecast…
