Forecast for Mon., Jan. 22nd – Sun., Jan. 28th, 2018
The theme of last week for me was “patience, patience, patience” and “all is unfolding exactly as it needs to…” (at least, that’s what I kept telling myself 😉 The New Moon became exact last Tuesday evening; and from Wednesday on, I could feel my inner tension subsiding — and I began moving more with the flow of things.
This week’s headline items: Eclipse season is upon us — and it’s time to take actions on our New Moon Intentions from last week, starting Monday. In addition, the first Quarter Moon in Taurus becomes exact on Wednesday and Mars changes signs from Scorpio to Sagittarius on Friday morning.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday late evening (for almost 9.5 hours), Thursday late evening (for almost 14.5 hours), and Sunday early morning (for a little over 8 hours).
Monday (January 22nd): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces and VoC until 1:27am EST. At that time, the Moon enters pioneering, fast-paced Aries, where it will journey until Wednesday morning. The energy of the Aries Moon bears on starting something new.
Our gut impulses are strong; we feel energetic, spontaneous, enthusiastic and brave — and perhaps impatient and impulsive. Excess energy is best channeled into physical activity.
Also on Monday, it’s time to actions on our New Moon intentions: if you set Intentions Tuesday night, Wednesday or Thursday of last week — after the New Moon became exact — today will be the best time to take relevant actions. If you wrote your intentions down, go back and take another look at what came through intuitively. If you didn’t write anything down, get quiet for a moment and check in with yourself: What actions are calling to me?
Tuesday (January 23rd): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day (see Monday very early morning for details).
Tuesday at 11:16pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 9.5 hours, until 8:39am EST (Wednesday morning). Use this intuitive time to connect to people that can enthusiastically support your projects and share with them what you have going on.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday night and Wednesday morning ahead of time 😉
Wednesday (January 24th): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries and VoC until 8:39am EST (see Monday very early morning for details).
Wednesday at 8:39am EST, the Moon moves into steady, peaceful Taurus, where it will journey until Friday early afternoon. We love all physical comforts, prefer consistency, and would rather stick with what we know works well. In other words: change is not our favorite thing and “rushing things” goes against our grain. What is our favorite thing for the next two days? It’s probably, slowing down and getting in touch with whatever delights our senses 😉 This Moon placement starts the build up towards the first Quarter Moon (exact on Wednesday afternoon).
Wednesday afternoon, a Mercury/Pluto alignment 19.5 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 3:50pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Monday evening on; it will remain strong until this Friday. With this alignment, an all-or-nothing attitude is very likely. We have tremendous mental focus — which could tip into obsession. Choose love over fear whenever possible. Connect to the things you feel passionate about — and connect to others, empowering them with your passions. As best as you can, choose your words carefully — if possible, speak from that deeply connected and empowered place.
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 16-23 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra or Cancer? If so, you may feel more connected to this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Scorpio (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Pluto rules Scorpio)
Wednesday early evening, at 5:20pm EST, the first Quarter Moon in almost 5 degrees of Taurus becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect from the moment the Moon entered Taurus this morning. The Moon, in steady, peaceful, comfort-oriented Taurus, makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in freedom-loving, forward-thinking, rebellious Aquarius.
We feel compelled to take action. Last week on Jan. 16th, the New Moon in Capricorn was exact: “Seeds” planted then are probably “sprouting” by now — and making their first real contact with the outside world. This is therefore a time to stretch and grow — and create some forward momentum. We may feel anxious or unusually busy.
As best as you can, go one breath at a time. Allow for changes, remain flexible (as much as possible), and find creative solutions for your day-to-day interactions with others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in any of the following: 3-7 degrees of Taurus, Aquarius, Leo or Scorpio? If so, you will feel the effects of this first Quarter Moon more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Thursday (January 25th): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all day (see Wednesday morning for details).
Thursday morning, an opportune Mercury/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 6:28am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Tuesday night on; it will remain strong until this Friday. This aspect is an opportunity for us to expand our thinking and express ourselves with confidence and optimism — we share what’s important to us from a place of open-mindedness and excitement.
This connection also creates a possibility of expansion via stepping into uncharted territory. Humor can be a great way to tap into this energetic combo. This planetary connection also favors short trips, writing, teaching, studying, and making observations. We more readily exercise good judgment and are more “philosophical” and open to learning.
Again, as with any opportunity, we have to “take” it — it requires we take action. What could you do that would instill confidence in your exploration of the mind? Is there a new mental process that is asking to be explored?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-23 degrees of Capricorn, Scorpio, Pisces or Virgo? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius (Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).
Thursday at 10:17pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 14.5 hours, until 12:40pm EST (Friday early afternoon). Use this intuitive time to share about earthly issues and support each other in practical ways.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Thursday night and Friday morning ahead of time 😉
Friday (January 26th): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus and VoC until 12:40pm EST (see Wednesday morning for details).
Friday at 7:56am EST, Mars changes signs from passionate Scorpio to adventurous Sagittarius, where it will journey until March 17th. With this placement, we are going to feel a little restless, maybe even impatient at times — we want to explore. This is a great time to get into sports or some athletic activity. We have so many ideas and interests that we can’t just stick to one thing right now, so we may have several projects running at the same time.
It’s a time when we prefer to improvise and just wing it. That makes it more fun and brings a sense of adventure to our day. We also like to have some good debates with others, persuading them to share our beliefs. It’s not the best time to get too serious about life, as we prefer to feel free-flowing and excited about new things — especially when we can learn something new 😉
If you have an Aries Sun-sign or Rising-sign, you are going to feel more adventurous and probably more impatient. You may want to explore new sports or physical activities. If you are a Sagittarius Sun-sign or Rising sign, you will feel quite energized for the next 7 weeks. Channeling this energy into physical exercise or a project might be advisable.
Friday at 12:40pm EST, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will journey until Sunday afternoon.. For the next two days, we like to learn, connect and interact as much as possible. “Busy” feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way… The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead 🙂
Saturday (January 27th): the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Friday early afternoon for details).
Saturday morning: we are asked to connect with others, socialize, and share information with them. Then, in the later morning, we are required to make some adjustments — and we may need to do a little stretching and growing, when it comes to our inner or emotional experiences. As best as you can, be gentle with yourself and others, seek to understand before seeking to be understood.
Saturday night/Sunday very early morning, a challenging Mercury/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 2:08am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Friday morning on; it will remain strong until next week Monday night (Jan. 29th). This aspect creates some tension in our lives: We may feel anxious or stressed by a situation or an interaction with business, or something to do with our career or long-term goals.
We’ll likely want to think outside the box. We may also want to bring some changes to a life situation or long-term goal that no longer fits. Again: We are being called to play a bigger game and may feel overwhelmed by what it all means.
Our minds may prefer things to be “squared away”, traditional or established, yet at the same time be possessed by a great urge for progress and breakthroughs — and this could leave us feeling irritable — the best way to manage this is to channel some of that nervous, irritable energy into constructive pursuits.
Since there’s a tendency right now to challenge established thought, or play devil’s advocate, it also helps to get in touch with our inner truth. Use breath to turn any fear into excitement — and let yourself drop into your heart.
Expect the unexpected, plan on disruption, revelation and breakthroughs — during this transit, the best mind is an open mind. As best as you can, go with the flow, staying open to the new and unexpectedly different. Could you allow whatever is happening to stimulate new approaches?
As you can perhaps imagine, this is not a time to make major decisions, especially if they are hasty 😉 You can think of this as “reorganizing” time for the mind, like moving your furniture around. If you feel yourself resisting the reshuffle, do your best to relax — and maybe even sit back and enjoy the show.
And as always, if all else fails, take it one moment at a time… Rather than jumping to conclusions, get grounded in the here and now — bringing awareness to your breath (or body) is a good way to do this.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 22-28 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aquarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Uranus rules Aquarius)
Sunday (January 28th): the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini until 1:57pm EST (see Friday early afternoon for details).
Sunday at 5:39am EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for a little over 8 hours, until 1:57pm EST. If you are awake during this intuitive time, use it as an opportunity to connect with others, exchange information, and move personal projects forward.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don’t start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Sunday morning until early afternoon ahead of time 😉
Sunday afternoon, an opportune Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 1:50pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Saturday morning on; it will remain strong until Monday evening (Jan. 29th) . We have an opportunity to bring healing energy to our concrete mind and to our thoughts. We also have a chance to heal insecurities in our verbal, in-person, or email interactions.
We are better able now to tune out that automatic/critical inner voice, in favor of more loving and compassionate structures for thinking and communicating. By bringing love and understanding to our thinking processes, we have a chance to move beyond entrenched habits, like “pushing ourselves” or dreaming up catastrophic futures.
Here’s a few good “chew toys” for your mind at this time: What was your family’s attitude towards career? Long-term goals in general? What if you tried a gentler approach for a bit? Does your inner dialog really have to repeat what they said when you were 5 years old? What if you used a gentler voice for the next ten minutes or so?
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 23-28 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
Sunday at 1:57pm EST, the Moon moves into protective, nurturing Cancer, where it will journey until Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 30th). With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say and therefore our feelings are more easily hurt — so be kind to yourself and others. Self-Care is key for the next two and half days 😉
Emotional safety is important to us as well; we like connecting to the familiar and we enjoy nurturing ourselves and others — home and family call to us, for instance. Make sure though, that your glass is filled before letting others drink from it, otherwise you might start to feel drained and resentful.
A head’s up for next Monday (Jan. 29th): the Moon remains in protective, introverted Cancer all day (see Sunday afternoon for details). More about all the details in next week’s forecast 😉
