On December 26th at 7:33pm EST, the Moon opposes the Sun in almost 5 degrees of Cancer. The entrance of the Moon into Cancer earlier that same day begins the energetic build-up towards this Full Moon.
This is the second Full Moon in 2023 in the Cancer-Capricorn polarity. The first one was on Jan. 6th, 2023, at the beginning of the year. You could say that started the year in the same way we are invited to end it….
Relationships of all kinds are highlighted during this time — but with this Full Moon, there is a particularly strong emphasis on family- and business relationships.
Before we dive in, I just want to share: it’s not too late to watch my Soulivity Today Morning Show: “Hot Astrology Topics” A Preview of 2024! ==> If you weren’t able to join us live on Dec. 15th, not to worry, here is the replay!
Back to the Full Moon…
Lots of planets are involved in this Full Moon chart:
- Moon in Cancer: sextiles an exalted Jupiter in Taurus and trines Saturn in Pisces
- Sun in Capricorn: trines an exalted Jupiter and sextiles Saturn
- Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) in Pisces sextiles an exalted Jupiter in Taurus
- Mercury and Mars are closely aligned in Sagittarius, both in a Square to Neptune in Pisces
- Neptune trines Venus in Scorpio, and they both sextile Pluto in Capricorn
- A highly exalted Chiron in Aries is in a wide Square to the Full Moon polarity and closes in on the North Node in Aries
Jupiter is exalted until Jan. 6th (stationing) as it prepares to end its 4-month Retrograde phase at 5.5 degrees of Taurus on Dec. 30th. However, at the time of the Full Moon, Jupiter will support the integration of the Full Moon polarity because it is sextiling the Moon in Cancer and trining the Sun in Capricorn.
The same is true for Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn. Saturn in Pisces will also support the integration of the Full Moon polarity, as it is trining the Moon and sextiling the Sun.
Chiron is extremely exalted and will halt at 15.5 degrees of Aries only 2.5 hours after the Full Moon becomes exact.
All of the above-mentioned play an important role, so buckle up! More about the specifics regarding all of these planets in a moment. But first, let’s talk about this month’s Full Moon:
This Lunation shows us how well we are doing with self-care and any issues connected to family or home — and also where we are in connection to greater emotional responsibility and self-alignment.
Ask yourself: What’s my relationship to self-care? Where do I feel most “at home”? What’s my understanding of my emotional needs? How might an emotional connection to myself and my loved ones be of benefit to me? How might it shift my priorities?
Let’s take a look at the polarities involved with this Full Moon: The Moon in protective, feeling-oriented Cancer opposes the Sun in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn.
We have a heightened sense that something must be brought into balance and reintegrated; the balance in question is between the experience of our personal feelings and emotional needs (symbolized by Cancer), versus our outer obligations or material, practical goals (Capricorn). It’s important to realize that…

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 3-7 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, or Libra? If so, you are more affected by this month’s Full Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
